Euripides’ Bacchae

1. Euripides’ Bacchae commentary as a pdf (10.8 mb pdf, 1st edition, updated 23May23)  On Amazon here.

Each page of this beta edition of Euripides’ Bacchae: Greek Text with Facing Vocabulary and Commentary includes 15 lines of Greek text (OCT ed. G. Murray, 1913) with all corresponding vocabulary (5 or fewer times) and grammatical notes below on the same page.

All core vocabulary words occurring 6 or more times are included in running vocabulary list in the preface and an alphabetized vocabulary list in the glossary. The glossary also contains uses and frequencies of optatives and subjunctives, synopses both regular and irregular (often with frequencies noted).

2. Student Translation Sheets (0.5 mb, pdf., 64 pages)

Greek text with lined spaces (12 pt font, 2.5 spaced) for the entire tragedy. The purpose of this ancillary is twofold: (a) to enable readers to print and write out translations or make annotations in an organized format, and (b) to allow instructors to assign translation assignments, scansion practice, and parsing exercises on organized handouts.
